Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your VPS control panel account by requiring both your password and a time-based code.
Activate 2FA
- Log in to your VPS control panel
- Click on the top menu on "Account" and "Two-factor Authentification"
- Use your prefered 2FA app like Aegis, EnteAuth, ProtonAuth, Bitwarden Authenticator etc and scan the QR code which you can see on the screen
- If you do not want or you can not scan the QR code you can enter the secret code which you can see under the QR code
- In the 2FA app you can see a time-based six digit number which you have to insert on the screen to verifiy your 2FA setup
- Done
Backup your Recovery codes!
It is very important to have a backup of your 2FA recovery codes. On the screen you can find a button called "Backup codes". Click on it and make a secure copy of the backup codes! the codes can be used if you loose access to your 2FA app.
Using 2FA for Future Logins
Once 2FA is enabled:
- Enter your username and password as usual
- You'll be prompted for a 6-digit authentication code
- Open your authenticator app and enter the current code
- Complete the login process
Important: If 2FA is enabled for your account, certain features like VNC connections may require additional authentication.
