There are some possible reasons why a domain transfer to us shows the status pending.

There is some kind of a dispute.
The domain has only been with the current registrar for 60 days.
The current registrar refuses the transfer.
The current registrar is not authorizing the domain transfer request.
Wrong EPP code.
